In honor of Jerusalem Day, Ayoob Kara, who served as Israel’s Communication, Satellite and Cyber Minister, emphasized that Jerusalem is a word that “makes the heart tremble” and that as we speak, the city is “in tears.”

“Jerusalem is a dream for the Jewish people and a place of prayer throughout the generations,” he added, noting that the Jewish people throughout their diasporas yearned for the Holy City, prayed for it, and swore again and again, “Next year in Jerusalem.”

“Ever since our ancestor Avraham visited the area and King David established his kingdom there 3,000 years ago, the great Jewish poets wrote about their love and longing for the city,” Kara stressed. “And we are the generation that was able to realize the vision of the Prophets of Israel. We have been privileged to witness the fulfillment of the dream that Jews had over the past 2,000 years.”

On this historic and special day, Kara sang in praise of Jerusalem: “Praise Jerusalem my lord! Hallelujah to the G-d of Zion! That strengthened the fragrance of your hair! That blesses your sons and daughters among you! Hallelujah, hallelujah to the G-d of Zion. Jerusalem will be the united capital of Israel from time immemorial. For Jerusalem, I pledge my allegiance and loyalty.”
