According to various media reports, two Christmas trees were set ablaze in Sakhnin over Shabbat. The police are investigating it as an arson attack.
According to YNET, one of the trees was outside a Catholic church, while the second was outside an Orthodox church. Both churches filed criminal complaints over the incident. A local reported that the arson attack was designed to create tensions between Muslims and Christians in the city.
Following the arson attack, MK Ayoob Kara visited the Christian community in order to express his support for them following this horrific incident and to wish Israel’s Christian community a “merry Christmas.”
